I'm falling apart. Kind of.

On Friday (last week), Greg and I have this conversation:

G: I really want to try P90x. Would you do it, too?

Me: I guess I would try it - I hear it's pretty hard.

G: Yeah, but, I think it would be good and we'd be able to do it at home.

Me: Ok. Sure.

So, Saturday we are at our friend Brandon's house and we are chatting about it - he says he has the DVDs and that we could borrow them to try them out. Greg didn't admit it, but he was so excited. For the next two days he researched online what he we would need as far as weights, bands, pull-up bars go. And on Monday night he pops in the instructional video. He then went on Tuesday evening to Dick's (Sporting Goods) and purchased what seemed to be a thousand dollars’ worth of equipment.

Later that evening we decide to go ahead and try the first video (chest and back) - so we move the living room furniture out of the way and get ready. The first 10 minutes was mostly stretching and jumping around. It takes about that long to not feel complete silly infront of each other, too. I mean - G and I have gone to the gym together lots - but we don't "work out together" if you know what I mean. And poor G...he is so great at A LOT of things - but being coordinated to move around during the aerobics portion is REALLY hard for him. Ha - but he sure looks cute trying.

So, we continue the work-out which is an hour long. And it is killer y'all. I mean, I've done hard work-outs before and I'd like to think I am in "ok shape" (meaning: I could do a decent workout for an hour). But, maybe not. Afterwards there is an ab workout portion that pops up and G and I look at each other like, are they serious?! But, we give it ago. G's motto: Go hard or go home. (even though we are home...hmm.)

So, the next day (Wednesday) I am pretty sore. Although, I become much more sore as the day goes on - meaning come 8pm when we decide to pop in video #2 (plyometrics) I am HURTING. However, I give it a whirl. If we thought we looked silly on night one you better believe we looked crazy on night two. It's a lot of squatting and jumping - and it's intense. After the first 20 minutes (which the first 5-7 is a warm-up) I am BEAT. I can honestly say I probably only did half of the video - but I feel like that was a great accomplishment on my part. And, during the portions where I got too tired or it was just too hard, I picked up my weights and still kept it moving. G did a lot better than I - probably doing 80% of the stuff. And today...we'll today my body is in PAIN.

So - we'll see if we can do the whole 90 days...it will be tough. If not, at least we'll get in a few good workouts and even more laughs.

What we think we look like.

What we really look like.
