Will is 25 weeks. Can you believe it? Almost six months old! He is getting so big. We went out on Monday and had to purchase some fall attire for him (think long sleeved bodysuits, socks and pants). We dropped some cash in Baby Gap and Old Navy (everything we purchased was on sale - a total plus). I didn't get that puffer vest...but I'm dying for it.
Gap Cable Knit Sweater - heather gray / Gap Quilted Puffer Vest - equinox blue / Old Navy Halloween Graphic One Pieces For Baby - Black jack / Gap Knit Waist Lined Jeans Dark Wash - dark wash / Gap Contrast Striped Bodysuit - red / Gap Graphic Lapped Bodysuit - new kiwi / Gap Organic Printed Long Sleeve Bodysuit - oxide grey / Gap Graphic Lapped Bodysuit - sport blue / Gap Striped Knit Pants - gray / Gap Striped Button One Piece - ruby wine / Old Navy Graphic Bodysuits For Baby - Olive newton john / Gap Blue Knit Socks 2 Pack - clear lake blue / Gap Baby Striped Cotton Pants with Drawstring - clear lake blue / Gap Sweater Bear Hat - navy / Gap Printed Socks - off white stripe
And get this...at Gap/Old Navy I had to purchase 12-18 month clothes for Will. The size chart says that 12-18 month is for 22-27 pounds and 29-31 inches. At 5 months Will was 18 pounds and 27 inches...so, here we are buying the 12-18 to hopefully fit him for next few months.
We recently (like 2 nights ago) stopped putting Will in the Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit. He's almost too big for it. We bought the 6-9 month size which is up to 22 pounds and we have a long fella on our hands.
So, we purchased this:
Night one was a long night. Will woke up probably 15 times hitting himself in the face. He never cried or woke to eat, but it was a restless night for him and us. Night two (last night) he only started stirring once and we didn't even have to go in to give him the paci - honestly we aren't sure why he slept so sound. Maybe because he didn't nap much yesterday? Either way - we hope he gets used to having his arms REALLY free. The only reason I went to a sleep sack and not just PJs is because he can stay warm (which he seems to like) and because I'm not comfortable (yet) leaving a blanket with him in the crib for the night. He does use one during naps, but we are awake for those. He loves his blankets - but I'm worried he'll cram too much in his mouth (he likes to put it in his mouth now). I got the sleep sack with a 20% off coupon at BRU so I spent around $17 for it.
My thoughts on MMSS: If you swaddle your baby, this product is wonderful. I wouldn't say it's magic. But, it did help Will transition from being wrapped up tight to having a little more room to move. He didn't get too hot (even though it looks super thick), it washed up well and was very easy to use. The only downfall with it: if you are still getting up to feed/change baby in the middle of the night (like the majority of parents do for a while!), it's a little bulky, harder to get baby in/out of than just a swaddle (in my opinion). Having one suit is just fine. If he spit up, had a leaky diaper, or whatever - I just washed and dried the next day - simple enough. Otherwise I ran it through the wash on the weekends. It was well worth the $40 I paid for it on Amazon (Prime). We used it a little over two months I guess - and having only one wasn't an issue for us.
*If you do not swaddle your baby, I'm not sure why you'd use this.
This post was all over the place! I'll leave you with some photos of our little guy on labor day:
