17 Weeks!

Little man is 17 weeks today. Sometimes I think, where has the time gone and other times I get excited about the months ahead (when he can sit on his own for example).

He really likes sitting up now. When he's in his bouncy seat he pulls his head forward - which freaks me out - but it's his way of saying "hey, I want to sit up and look around!".

The last week or so he hasn't been sleeping as well. He usually eats around 9pm and is put to bed by 9:30 and falls fast asleep. Then he would wake sometime between 2-4am to eat, then go back down until around 6 or 6:30. Well, not now. Little man is going down the same, but waking at midnight or so - the paci seems to comfort him and he usually falls back to sleep until 2 or 3, then waking to eat. And, now, he's been up and ready for the day at 5 or 5:30. Not sure if he's in a growth spurt - or if we've hit the 4 month sleep regression wall. We'll ask about it at the doctor - but I just keep telling myself: this too shall pass...it's just a phase. And, we take it one day (night) at a time.

We are also starting to push his last feeding to around 8:30 or even 8pm if we can. That way, he can be down by 8:30 or 9. This would allow us to have a little bit of time to ourselves - and little man seems super tired...sometimes he wants a nap at 6:30 or 7pm. Maybe by moving his bedtime forward we can eliminate that late evening nap. OH - and I purchased the Merlin's Magic Sleep suit to see if we can break the swaddle...hoping to try it over the weekend. That way, in case it's a bust - we don't have to work the next day ;)

He is doing tummy time now a couple of times a day for about 5 minutes. He seems to be getting the hang of it. Still doesn't love it - but, puts up with it for a bit longer than he did a month ago.

Look at all of that hair! Seriously, I think he gets more every day. He goes Monday for his 4 month check-up - with more shots. Can't wait to see how much he weighs and find out how long he is. He's changed so much since we brought him home!

  1. He is so cute! We had a sleep regression at 4 months, but thankfully (knock on wood) she's snapped out of it!

Shots are heartbreaking. Good luck, little guy!
