A quick update - 7 weeks

So, Will is catching a snooze - so I thought I'd take the chance to tell you we are still doing great! We went to the doctor last week (the two month visit a bit early to get a jump on those nasty shots since Will will be in childcare pretty soon). He was 10 pounds and 15 ounces of pure love. He's 23 inches long, too. Can't believe how much he's grown and how different he looks every day. He's 7 weeks today and I can't believe that in three short weeks I'll be heading back to work. I can't think about it too much - makes me cry. The thought of someone else taking care of my baby breaks my heart! But, enough of that talk for today!

Will at his 6 week check up.
We still aren't sleeping much - kiddo likes to eat every 3 hours (sometimes, very rarely, he'll go 4 hours). When we put him down after his last feeding between 8-10pm, we also go to bed. Who would've thunk that we'd hit the hay at 8pm some nights? Well...welcome to parenthood - sleep when you can! He was up at 5:30am today for his feeding and was wide awake after that. I don't blame him. If I had snoozed on and off all day, and then been put in the bassinet from 9pm till 5:30am, I'd be ready to be awake, too. We've been told that something magical happens eventually...where he'll sleep 5-6 hours through the night. We aren't there yet...but, I have to say, I am looking forward to it when it comes - not rushing it - but will be happy to welcome that magical event.

G and I went out to dinner on Saturday. We called ahead at the Outback (timed with Will's feeding schedule) and he slept the whole way there and through dinner. He then slept long enough for us to run into a few stores at the outlet mall - and while G went in to get Coldstone, I fed Will. He did great!

We took Will to church for the first time this past Sunday. We just fed him right before we left and he slept through the entire service. We took him in with us, he didn't even come out of his carrier. Finger's crossed he can keep that up for a few more weeks. Because obviously I am no where near ready to leave him in the nursery. We visited G's parents and my family, too. It was a long day for Will - he got really cranky at my G-ma's house and we realized we probably over did it. Too many places, too many carseat enters and exits, too many people. Poor kid.

I did leave the house last week - by myself with Will for the first time. It was hard. Getting him changed, fed and loaded up - plus bags. Not to mention I was so nervous about driving with him. When G drives us, I sit in the back. So I was so worried he'd get really fussy and I wouldn't be back there to give him his paci or just talk to him. But, we did it! We hit the mall, visited my brother and went to Sam's to get some stuff (three different days, three different outings...success!).

We haven't gotten this whole baby thing down yet by any means. We're still learning...and every day (or every couple of days) everything is different. Feeding times, bed times, how much Will is awake/asleep during the day,, how cranky he gets...it all changes, all the time. But, we sure are enjoying it...and love this little boy more than we had ever imagined possible!

Will loves taking a bath. Not right at first - but then when he realizes what's going on (a bath) he just smiles and looks around and sits back to relax.
Fun fact: baths make Will poop. Seriously. Sometimes within 30 minutes after getting dried off and getting clothes on. You know you're in love when you find this absolutely adorable.
