So Wednesday morning I had my first weekly visit with the OB. We saw Dr. Littleton again...they are spoiling us with him now I suppose in case we don't get him when it's delivery time. He really is great.
Blood pressure was good, baby's heart rate was 141, belly is measuring well...AND, after a quick belly feel, doctor confirmed that baby is head down. Hoping he stays that way - although, I think he's running out of room to turn around!
They did the strep-b test (I'll spare you the details) and then he offered to check my cervix. But, only if I was curious - he said it was totally up to me - it's a little painful, but my choice and only if I wanted to know if anything was going on - didn't matter to him either way. I looked at Greg and quickly said, "if you don't care today, neither do I." After he and the nurse left, G says "you didn't get checked because you didn't want to freak out if something was going on down there, right?" and I say "yep" and he says "that's good - because you would have been freaked out if anything was going on". He really knows me. Plus, I've read that with each check there's room for infection - so, I am also sparing myself of that.
So, we go back next Wednesday and there's a good chance they'll check me then. We'll see.
And, true story. Got an email last night that one of the couples in our birthing class (who are a week behind us) was at labor and delivery being induced (high blood pressure). So, we are really aware of how close we could be to having baby. We are excited, almost as ready as we should be, and totally nervous about the whole thing. Prayers are welcomed!
