Last week was officially crazy. Greg left for a work trip Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening I had the 3rd birthing class at the hospital. Rachel was going to be my date, but she got sick (hope you're feeling better!) so, my friend/coworker Ashley came along with me.
But before birthing class, around lunch time, I rode to the mall to pick up some foundation from Sephora (mine was getting really low). I literally was gone 40 minutes max and on the way back from the mall my Check Engine light came on. Yikes. However, I called Greg and he said it was probably a sensor or something and as long as it drove fine, I would be okay and he'd get it checked out when he got back home on Friday.
Well, Ashley and I head out to dinner and then to REX for the class. We go our separate ways and when I get on the highway (it's about 9:10pm) it's super windy - like, kind of weird out windy - and I make it about two exits up and suddenly more lights on the dash come on. They start flashing. But the car is driving okay - so, I just try to make it back to work - while I call Greg. While getting on the exit ramp for work, all the lights in the car go off. Yep, across the dash - darkness. Then, my headlights go out. By this point I am literally less than 1 minute away from work. So, I get the car to work. And, lucky for me, I work for a radio station where we have 4-5 cars on hand. So, I go into my office, grab the truck key and then proceed home. I tell Greg I can have my dad look at my car tomorrow and have it towed if necessary. Well, I make it home in the CRAZY winds - and the next day we discover that the alternator has gone bad. I get the car towed and it's fixed by Friday at lunch - so, no harm - but, it was still pretty scary for this pregnant girl that Wednesday night. (by the way, Greg is not allowed to leave a 50 mile radius from Raleigh now that we're getting close - rule made by me!)
Anyway, with all the car drama we've had (with the jeep being a goner) - I am glad it was just something simple to my car to fix.
So, the birthing class was really good last week. It was a discussion on epidurals, drugs, IVs, fetal monitors, etc - which is super helpful information. We also took a tour of the birthing center and saw a delivery room. We were also told where to park, how to check-in, etc. So far, the best class. Up next for class 4? Newborn care. Get excited. Can't wait to see G change a doll's diaper.
