Last night was childbirthing class #2 of 5. Before the class we grabbed dinner at The Draft House which was nice.
We brought our mat and pillows this time (yay!). We talked about the stages of labor and how important it is to wait as long as you can before heading to the hospital since most of the time labor slows down once you're in a place that's unknown or uncomfortable. And...we saw a birthing video. That's right. It was only 10 minutes, but you saw a LOT of stuff. The women in the video didn't use any medication - girl power. G handled watching the video like a champ. When we left he even said he felt a little emotional watching it - which I did, too. I think when you're expecting a baby and you see this happen, all you think about is how you'll feel when baby arrives and how exciting/nervous/anxious you'll be in that moment and how happy it'll feel to see and hold our baby for the first time - to hear him cry, know that "we've made it" through the pregnancy and at that point the "hard part" of labor is behind you.
It obviously didn't "gross" either of us out as we stopped for ice cream - yes - even at 9pm on a Wednesday - after the class. Hey, when you want ice cream, you want ice cream!
