My dear friend Janelle and her husband Matt welcomed their sweet little boy
into the world last Thursday. Things got so busy for me that I couldn't make it
to the hospital to see momma and baby - I tried to make plans to go on Saturday
during lunch but they were sending them home on Saturday. So, I signed up for
meal delivery on Wednesday and told Janelle that I would look forward to seeing
them then.
I picked up Pei Wei for supper (as I was coming from work and didn't have
time to cook on Tuesday evening) and spent about an hour with the sweet babe!
He is so tiny and sweet - and his cry sounds so high pitched - almost like a
hamster or some other really small creature - that you can't help but smile
even when he cries! (easy for the girl who was only there an hour to say) He has the longest fingers and the biggest cheeks - a real beauty.

I have known Janelle since 8th grade. We both were middle school cheerleaders (at different schools) but became friends pretty quickly. Lucky for us, we went to the same high school (Cougar Pride!) and stayed friends through high school and college. Janelle moved to Boone to attend ASU and I stayed in Raleigh - but we tried pretty hard to see each other when she made visits home for school breaks. It's weird to think that we were 14 year old girls who shared secrets, baked cookies at 3am, got sucked into All My Children together and cried over stupid boys who we don't even talk to anymore and now...well now we're both married, have jobs, and she has this sweet baby and is a mom at 26. I know I am not old...but, time sure doesn't slow down. I feel so blessed to have Janelle's friendship - along with all my other girlfriends - I can't wait to see what another 12 years brings!
