Easter 2015

Challenging isn't even the word to describe the week of Easter for us. The week started off pretty "normal" - but on Wednesday we got a call from daycare (late in the afternoon) that he was having lots of gross diapers and we needed to pick him up. When you go home early for this reason (or vomiting or a fever) you also can't go the following day.

Greg picks him up, he seems in good spirits and we chalk it up to him eating something not-so-great. We pack up and head to Moe's for supper, where Will didn't eat anything...not even the queso that he can't get enough of. He did have some water and had more diarrhea while there. Again, we thought he must have eaten something that wasn't setting well with him. That, or he had a 24 hour bug.

When we were literally 2 miles from home, Will gets sick in the backseat. I have absolutely nothing to catch it in or clean up with (lesson learned). He's so upset and says "Mommy, I scared" through his tears. Greg cleans the car while I clean him as soon as we get home.

He's super clinging and very upset. But, we get him settled for bed and think things will be better in the morning. Then comes 1 am...and a fever. Poor baby feels awful. He doesn't want to eat or drink anything the next day. We take him to the doctor Thursday afternoon where he gets a pedialite pop and some anti-nausea meds to at least keep water in. He was so pitiful. He laid around the rest of the day and following day not eating and napping on and off.

Saturday morning, Will is fever free and seems to be in much better spirits (just a little weak and still not hungry), so we decide to attend the walk for ALS downtown to support our friend Mark along side friends/church family. We get about 15 minutes from home when Greg feels sick and we turn around. He had caught Will's bug.

He stayed in bed all day/all night while I played with Will and we went to visit my parents for Easter. Then in the wee-hours of the morning Greg's phone rang to tell him he should head to the hospital. (he was so SICK, and TIRED...it's by the grace of God that he made it to Cary as quick/safe as he did).

We lost Greg's mom on Easter morning, before Will had even gotten up. It has been a very sad, holiday. But at the same time, we are thankful that she is no longer in pain - or suffering - from cancer. And, what a better day to go home than on Easter Sunday? We are very thankful for the time we (especially Will) had with Teresa, We will certainly cherish the memories we made and the time we were blessed to have her in our lives.

Please continue to pray - for Greg and our family. Loss is never easy, but to lose a parent, is especially difficult.
Praise God that we have a risen Savior!
