I figured I should write some things down that Will is saying currently. I don't want to forget these special moments where nouns are his favorite things to say and point to. You can hardly get through a book these days because he's pointing at things in the book "backpack! apple! couch! shoes!" or whatever may be on the pages...it's the most amazing thing to watch him learn new words and use them.
I feel like Greg and I understand his language better than anyone. Mostly because we hear it the most and can interpret for him.
Elmo = Belbo
Mickey = Toodles (from a book he has where Mickey is looking for Toodles)
Eye Man = Iron Man (he has a figurine)
I've learned that some words are tricky to teach. For instance, while in the laundry room, I'm putting clothes from the washing to the dryer and I say "Will, put the clothes in" and he says "Close, Close" and shuts the dryer door. Yes...I guess I did say "clothes" which sounds like "close".
We have the same issue when our refrigerator makes loud noises (it's making ice) and I say "That loud noise is from the ice maker, making ice" and he looks at us, very seriously and says "EYES" and points to his eyes. You're right, buddy. Ice and Eyes do sound a lot alike from a southern. Hopefully the fridge is NOT making eyes. It doesn't help that Will's version of "eyes" sometimes sounds like "ass" so we get a good laugh while having this conversation.
So, here's to our favorite things these days....
