I joined the Y. And I went!

So, yesterday, I joined the YMCA of the greater Triangle. Then, I went to a Toning class at 5:30 (which means I left work at 5 to make it there, park and get in the class before it filled up) - and I have to say....it felt GREAT to move, be around a bunch of other people moving and it was fun. I used to go to the Y almost 3 days a week a few years back. But, when G and I got married and moved to the middle of nowhere, I joined a different gym that didn't have classes. I need the classes. I need someone to tell me what to do...and, something different each time when I go. Yes, I could walk on a treadmill and do some weights...but, where's the fun in that?

So, I am really sore today. But, I am thinking that means I did something right yesterday. It has been a little over a year since I really did a "work out" for 50 minutes. So, here's to new beginnings!

And, here's another perk: my company paid my joining fee and they pay $25 a month for my membership. They also have a fantastic childcare facility while you work out (for just $15 a month to use!) - I am not sure I'll have to take Will, but I like that it's an option if I decide to. And, they have a great app that you can use to see what classes are happening at different Y's in your area. If you're wanting to try something, I say go for it!

  1. I have finally figured out that the key to me wanting to workout is the community aspect of it. I can't stand running alone or even on a treadmill with people around. Listening to music on headphones is like solitary confinement in that situation to me!
