38 Weeks

We had our 38 week appointment today. And, the big check. No progress yet. A part of me was a bit disappointed. I thought, "maybe I'm one to two cm and that's less work when labor comes"...but, no. I am really glad I didn't get checked at week 36 - to have no progress then and then none again today would have probably been more disappointing - being told twice there is no progress. But, doctor ensures that baby is still head down, heart beat was 135, blood pressure is fine and we've made it to a really safe point in this pregnancy. The doctor's goal is to make it to week 39 - and we're so close.

Next week (Tuesday afternoon), we'll have another check to see if anything has changed - and then we'll go back during week 40 (if baby hasn't arrived yet) with discussion of induction. Again, they told us they'd let us go one week (one week and a day or two at the very most) - so, finger's crossed this baby comes on his own terms - and not through means of induction. But, if that's the route we had to take, at least we'll know baby is at a safe point to do so.

This past weekend G had to work for half a day. So, I got up when he left (which was 6:30am) and all the laundry was completed and put away, house got mopped, dusted, vacuumed...bathrooms were cleaned. I am sure this is my body's way of nesting. I even went for a pedicure around 12pm, hit the grocery store and Subway before coming home. It was very productive to say the least.

So, this week - I'll be keeping up with all of our laundry - buying more groceries (like frozen meat) that's on sale to stock away to have once baby gets here and continue with thank-you notes. I FINALLY finished shower #2 and got them all mailed this morning. Tonight, shower #3 will get started. Really hoping to finish them ALL by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed. I get the feeling the more prepared I am, the longer it'll take baby to come. But, here's to him being full term!
